What is it?
wine shouldn’t be a mystery but it so often is. our aim is to lift the veil but keep the magic.
no big words, no agendas and no reviews. just wine chats without the wank.
not serious wine chats was brought to life by Dominique Fourie-McMillan in Melbourne, Australia. It was born from concern around the inaccessible and exclusive way wine was being conveyed to the people who pull their hard-earned dollars from their worn out wallets.
Morv McAuley, Creative Director of the platform, had the realisation was that the NZ wine industry needed a dedicated media platform to share brand successes and better wine information and she was instrumental in encouraging Dominique to bring it to Aotearoa.
What we do.
The original concept of Not Serious Wine Chats was as an event-based collaborative project. A balanced mix of wine folk were invited to talk about a specific topic that appeared to cause confusion for wine drinkers just keen to enjoy their wine experience. Started in Melbourne, NSWC was brought to NZ by Morv with Dom’s assistance. After three events had been completed, life and a global pandemic resulted in something of hiatus for the concept.
The pandemic highlighted the importance of digital communications and out of determination to find a media platform that better served the winemaker and wine drinker, Morv went to work to reignite Not Serious Wine Chats.
A complete brand review and digital presence overhaul has resulted in what is hoped will become a place of community for all those interested in wine, hospitality and the other myriad of beverage choices we all enjoy.
The renovated platform includes podcasts with a carefully curated, relevant, open-minded and friendly guest list from Morv’s personal black book. It includes wine articles written in a style to simplify and add humour and eliminate the wank factor from the wine industry.
Not Serious Wine Chats events are in pipeline now that sitting side-by-side in a closed room is back in vogue.
